IF YOU WANT A CAREER IN THE BEER INDUSTRY, YOU'RE IN THE RIGHT PLACE.
My name is Don DiBrita and I left the corporate world to drink beer and build a community. I thank each and every one of you for allowing me this opportunity. Without my community this never would have been possible.
SO WHAT IS BEER DOGGING?
This is the evolving answer. Beer Dogging is one of the largest beer clubs in the Chicago area, I mean Midwest, I mean US. Heck now we have members in more than a dozen countries. It’s an amazing thing to watch some little thing you are so passionate about turning into a big thing.
WHERE IT CAME FROM
5 years ago, a half a dozen guys showed up for a little beer tasting in a garage in the suburbs of Chicago. Beer tastings were not as common back then. Little did they know the impact that day would have.
It wasn’t about standing lines to score limited releases or hoarding the biggest beer cellar in the world. It was about good people and good beer coming together.
THE NAME AND MISSION
As we talked about beer that day, the idea of starting a club came up. Our ideas were running wild. Since we were so passionate about beer, we figured there had to be others out there. Wouldn’t it be great if we could connect with a few? Now we just needed a name. Enter Frankie. My food possessed (and beer) beagle.
As we were outside smoking (yes some of us did back then), Frankie snuck into the garage and proceeded to bury his snout into a $30 beer. When we walked into the garage and caught him, one of the guys said: “Hey he is Beer Dogging.”
Beer Dogging stems from the term Bird Dogging as in hunting. Sorry for you folks over the pond that thought this was some kind of “dogging” site:)
You see Beer Dogging is a state of mind. It’s being on the trail of craft beer. The path doesn’t end and there are always new twists and turns with an unlimited amount of people to journey with.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Now in our little club, you are going to find beer education, videos, course, deals, and all kinds of stuff. In the end, it’s about brotherhood (and sisterhood). It’s about the people.
I welcome you and I hope that you will join us.
